Peter Joseph Auditore, age 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Pine Heights at Brattleboro, Vermont. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 25, 1924, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria (Grasso) Auditore. He was raised in Roxbury, where he graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School with the Class of 1941. Following his graduation, Peter continued his education at Burdett Business College, earning his associates degree with a focus on Business Administration and Secretarial Science. Peter was drafted into the United States Navy in 1943, proudly serving his country during World War II. He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations with the Air Transport Squadron, serving all the commanders and captains in the Pacific. Peter was honorably discharged at the close of the war, having earned the rank of Yeoman First Class. Upon his return to Boston, Peter made his home in Hyde Park and opened Victory Market in both Hyde Park and Quincy.
Peter married his beloved wife, Josephine Mary Bugli, on September 12, 1954, in Saint Paul's Church and together, they made their home in Dorchester. After operating his produce markets for fifteen years, Peter took a position with Roxie's in Stoughton, working as a buyer and manager in the produce department. In 1977, Peter moved his family out of the city, making his new home in the small suburban town of East Walpole, Massachusetts. He maintained his position with Roxie's until 1986, when he took a job with Nor'East Produce in Chelsea, taking a management position, overseeing the bagged salad operation. Peter retired in 2006, at the age of 82, after more than 50 years in the produce industry.
When he wasn't hard at work, Peter enjoyed trying his luck at the Raynham Race Track every Saturday with his brother-in-law. He looked forward to gathering with friends at a local bowling alley or hosting a friendly game of poker in his home. Peter enjoyed some quiet time too, relaxing with a favorite book or examining statistics.
