Peter Joseph Anderson, age 37, passed away suddenly on December 7, 2020. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 5, 1983, he was the son of Robert and Donna M. (Mayne) Anderson. He was raised in Norfolk, Massachusetts and attended Bishop Feehan High School, where he was a member of the football team. Pete brought his football skills to Saint Thomas More School in Montville, Connecticut, where he also played lacrosse, before graduating with the Class of 2001. He enrolled in Nicholas College and later transferred to the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
In June of 2005, Pete enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Global War on Terrorism. He was stationed aboard the USS Bulkeley and earned a good conduct medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Pete was honorably discharged in June of 2009, after earning the rank of Boatswain's Mate Third Class.
Upon his return to Norfolk, Massachusetts, Pete continued his studies at UMass Boston, pursuing a degree in History. He began working at carpentry and landscaping before attending Veterans’ Programs and participating in CWT work with the Veterans Administration in Bedford, Brockton, and most recently Bath, New York.
Sports remained a large part of Pete's life through the years. He was a lifelong fan of the hometown teams and Michigan football, as well as an avid boxing enthusiast.
Pete was a compassionate, caring friend, always willing to help others.
Beloved son of Robert Frederick and Donna M. (Mayne) Anderson of Norfolk.
Loving twin brother of Lindsay D. Coldwell and her husband, Brandon, of Reston, VA.
Beloved brother of the late Luke Anderson.
Uncle of Cooper, Liam, Gavin, Tucker, and Riley.
Nephew of Paula Mayne of Norfolk, Dennis Mayne and his wife, Jill, of Osterville, Richard Mayne of Malden, Joseph Mayne and his wife, Grace, of Cotuit, James Anderson of Foxborough, Christopher Anderson and his wife, Diane, of Norfolk, Karen Okstein of Norwood, and Lydia Froese of Nashua.
Pete is also survived by his many cousins.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Peter's Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Saint Jude's Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, if you are planning to attend the Mass, please go to ejcatholic.org and sign up on SignUp Genius. The Mass will also be streamed on FaceBook Live. Visiting hours are private and internment will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
