Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William and Jane (Peyton) McQueen. She spent her early years living in Roxbury before her family settled in Roslindale. Pauline graduated from Mission High School with the Class of 1944, where she met her soon to be husband, Arnold M. "Buddy" Capobianco.
