Paul M. Smith, age 78, died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Friday, May 29, 2015. Born on March 21, 1937 in Quincy, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Mildred Smith. He was raised in Quincy and graduated from North Quincy High School with the class of 1955. While in high school, Paul played baseball and excelled in track, holding the long jump record at North Quincy High for many years. After high school, Paul enlisted and prouldy served his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. In 1957, after his honorable discharge, Paul came home to Quincy and took a position with Keystone Custodian Funds in Boston.
On May 27, 1961, Paul married the love of his life, Joan T. Mahoney, and together they made their home in Dorchester. Shortly after their wedding, Paul purchased his home in Stoughton, where he and Joan lived for several years. While living in Stoughton, Paul sought out work at Fidelity Investments, serving in various sales capacities. In 1969, Paul and Joan settled in Walpole, Massachusetts to raise their family.
To advance his career with Fidelity, Paul began taking night classes at Northeastern University to earn his diploma. The hard work paid off and he became the Vice President of the Fidelity Institutional Retirement Services Company for many years. He retired in April of 1996 as the Senior Vice President with 35 years of dedicated service to Fidelity.
After his retirement, Paul, along with his wife, Joan, loved spending their winters together in Cape Coral, Florida. He enjoyed reading and relaxing by the pool with family and friends. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his weekly card games with his friends.

Loving father of Laura Smith and her partner Caren Eliezer of Arlington, Paul Smith and his wife Ursula of Bourne, Leanne McCarthy and her husband Jeff of Pembroke, and Tara Mangini and her husband Robert of Norfolk.
Cherished grandfather of Riley, Liam, Alex, Ben, Jacob, Ryan, Max, Ian and Lucy.
Brother of the late Barbara Dunn and the late Gloria Morgan.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Paul's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, P.O.
