Paul G. Cuomo, age 83, passed away peacefully in his East Walpole, Massachusetts home on Monday, September 26, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in New York, New York on May 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Louisa (Rohm) Cuomo. He was raised in the Washington Heights section of New York and played youth football for the Sinatra Cyclones. He was educated in the public school systems of New York and graduated in 1951. He played on the town and CYO football, roller hockey, and baseball teams. After graduation, as a baseball pitcher, Paul earned a tryout with the Cleveland Indians. Prior to high school, he met his wife to be, Ann M. Durso, after "borrowing" her roller skate key.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in the United States and earned the rank of Corporal. While still on active duty, Paul married Ann on February 5, 1955, he was honorably discharged later that year in June. Paul and Ann made their home together in New York and he began his investments career with Merrill Lynch. While employed at Merrill Lynch, he worked in Cincinnati, Ohio and Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to working full-time, Paul attended Pace University in New York, Xavier of Ohio, graduating with a BA in Business in 1965 from the University of Minnesota. In 1967, Paul and Ann moved to East Walpole to raise their young family, where he became very active in Walpole Youth Sports. He spent countless hours coaching Little League Baseball and was a past President of Walpole Pop Warner Football and later became a devoted supporting member of the Walpole Rebels Boosters.
After 22 years with Merrill Lynch, Paul took a position with Fechtor Detwieler as a partner, running the trading desk. He concluded his investments career as the Securities Trading Manager with H.C. Wainwright in Boston, retiring in 1999.
Paul was an avid Boston Sports Fan and as a season ticket holder, loved watching the New England Patriots play in Foxboro. Above all, family was most important to Paul. He organized family trips to Washington D.C. as well as 5 trips to Disney World. He and some of of his grandsons visited Cooperstown New York and the Hockey Hall of Fame in Canada. As a devoted grandfather, he attended his grandchildren's events whenever he could and would take them on special trips or outings often.

Loving father of Paul G. Cuomo and his wife Angela of South Weymouth, Robert F. Cuomo and his wife Jill of Scituate, Michael J. Cuomo and his wife Colleen of Plymouth, Kelly Udahl and her husband Tore of East Walpole and Laura Rockwell and her husband Tom of East Walpole.
Cherished grandfather of Kimberly, Alex, Hailey, Nicholas, Michael, Elisabeth, Adam, Christopher, Samantha, Erik, John, Kristine, and Ashley.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Paul 's Life Celebration on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 2-6 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
