Paul Raymond Bovaird, age 72, passed away peacefully in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Friday, February 9, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 19, 1945, he was the son of the late Gordon Bovaird and Cecelia (Nadeau) Hinman. He was raised in the Jamaica Plain and Mission Hill areas of Boston and graduated from Boston English High School with the Class of 1963. After graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. While enlisted in the Air Force, Paul married his childhood sweetheart, Jeanne M. Boucher, on April 26, 1968. Paul was honorably discharged in September of 1971, after earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Upon his return home from the Air Force, he and Jeanne made their home together in the Mission Hill area of Boston and Paul took a position with Data General. In addition to raising a family and working full time, Paul found time to take night classes at Northeastern University, earning his Bachelor's Degree in 1977. His degree allowed him to further his career and better provide for his family, which he did by accepting a position with EMC in Hopkinton, working as a software engineer. He retired in 2007 after more than 25 years of dedicated service to EMC.
In his spare time, Paul was an avid reader, always wanting to further his knowledge of different subjects. He enjoyed spending time on his home computer and was always ready to cheer on his favorite Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox. However, more than anything, Paul was a dedicated family man. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jeanne, and was an incredible father to both JoAnn and Jeff. Paul was overwhelmed with joy at the birth of his grandchildren and took every opportunity to spend as much time with them as he could.
