Paul M. Backoff, age 60, of Walpole, Massachusetts passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 31, 1960, he was the son of William and Barbara (Hentschel) Backoff. Paul spent his early years in Norwood before his family settled in Walpole in 1965, where he graduated from the Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole with the Class of 1979.
As a talented landscaper, Paul operated his own company, Norfolk County Tree and Landscape, for many years, working hard to ensure all his customers received top notch service. In addition to his landscaping skills, Paul had a natural ability to prune and remove trees from his customer's yards. While he worked hard, Paul knew the best way to relax after a long week was to swing his leg over his favorite Harley Davidson motorcycle, departing for a day long adventure.
Later in his life, Paul moved to New Hampshire to enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending countless hours in the woods or on a lake. As the New Hampshire winter began to set in, Paul readied his ice fishing gear, looking forward to the first time he could drill through the frozen lake to cast his line. More recently, Paul returned to Walpole, to be closer to his family.
Devoted son of William E. and Barbara Backoff of Walpole.
Brother of Nancy L. Kiehl of North Attleboro, Stephen H. Backoff of Walpole, the late William E. Backoff III and the late Robert D. Backoff.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Paul’s family has decided that his funeral services will be private. Interment will take place privately in Maple Grove Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to: Walpole Fire Ambulance Gift Account, 20 Stone Street, Walpole, MA 02081.
