Patricia C. Tarbell

November 2, 1943 — January 11, 2023

Patricia (Patty) C. Tarbell, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise (Hayes) Cashman. She grew up in East Walpole, Massachusetts, spending her days at the Bird Park swimming pool, Park Theatre, and the Snack Bar. Patty graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1961. Following her graduation, she took a position with Hollingsworth and Vose in East Walpole, working as the Administrative Assistant to the Sales Manager for 7 years.

Patty married her high school sweetheart, Joseph (Joe) E. Tarbell, on August 27, 1965, in Saint Mary's Church, East Walpole. They made their home together in Walpole, where Patty took on the role of homemaker, raising and caring for her four daughters, Maureen, Christine, Karen, and Meredith. As the girls grew, she returned to work while simultaneously attending Curry College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. In 1993, Patty took a position with the Walpole Public Schools, working as an Administrative Assistant in various offices within the School Department until 2005.

Throughout her life, Patty loved being outside, going for long walks, and tending to the many flower gardens around her home. Her favorite time of day was the afternoon, sitting on her back porch with Joe, reading the paper, listening to country music and enjoying the view of her backyard. She was a wonderful cook, treating her family members to special, made-to-order birthday dinners every year. Patty was especially proud of and devoted to her daughters and twelve grandchildren, never missing a game, concert, or any meaningful moment in their lives. She loved to spend time with her sisters, whom she considered her best friends, often meeting in one of their kitchens for “secret” tea to catch up on the day’s news.

Beloved wife of Joseph E. Tarbell.

Loving mother of Maureen Chase and her husband, Steve, of Walpole, Christine Cantrell and her husband, Doug, of Walpole, Karen Vazquez and her husband, Mike, of Medfield, Meredith McCabe and her husband, Tim, of Walpole.
