Patricia A. (Sarnie) Kelleher, age 82, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Friday, January 11, 2019. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 6, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Barbara S. (Zappala) Sarnie. She was raised in Roslindale and graduated from Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1954. Following graduation, Pat quickly found work as a bookkeeper at State Street Bank.
Pat married her beloved husband, Richard X. Kelleher, on May 19, 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale. The young couple made their home together in West Roxbury, where Pat took on the role of a homemaker, caring for her family. As her son, Rick, grew up, Pat returned to the working world taking a part time position with Butler Shoe in Westwood. After settling in Walpole, Massachusetts in 1973, her position with Butler Shoe became full time, working as the office manager. While Pat officially retired in the late 1980s, she continued working part time jobs to stay busy. She worked in the dining room at the Clark House in Westwood and later was a hostess at Mario’s in Hyde Park.
When she wasn’t hard at work, Pat enjoyed spending time in her yard, caring for the plants, bushes, and gardens. She also enjoyed spending time at her home in Harwich Port on Cape Cod. More than anything, Pat was devoted to her family, and was especially a loving devoted mother to her son, Rick. She was always there for Rick to offer help and guidance with anything he was working on.
