Patricia A. (O'Brien) Gallagher age 88 years died in the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Massachusetts on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Born in Milton, Massachusetts on July 18, 1922; she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. & Anna Beatrice (Cashman) O'Brien. She graduated from Milton High School with the class of 1940. Mrs. Gallagher later graduated from Boston University with the class of 1943, earning her degree in Spanish with a minor in English. She has been living in Plymouth for the past 14 years, but was a long time native of Walpole, Massachusetts.
She was a homemaker for all of her adult life raising and caring for her family. In addition to her family, she would always show care and concern for others.
Mrs. Gallagher was an avid golf fan, and enjoyed summering in Wellfleet, puzzles, and intellectual games. She also enjoyed her daily walks to Plymouth Harbor and Dunkin Donuts. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Gallagher. Loving mother of Robert E. and his wife Mary B. Gallagher of Norton, Susan M. and her husband John Hamel of Hampton, NH, Steven M. Gallagher, Nancy Cavicchi of Sandwich, Carol A. Murphy, Peter Murphy of Plymouth, and the late David J. Gallagher. Cherished grandmother of Robert, Megan, and Courtney Gallagher, Allison and Joseph Hamel, Lindsey and Sean Gallagher, David, Julia, and Steven Murphy, and great grandmother of Daelan Gallagher and Kailey O'Connell. Sister of the late Andrew O'Brien, Catherine Cronin, and Eileen Curran. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church 176 Washington Street East Walpole on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 9:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 5-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment is in Highland Cemetery in Norwood, Massachusetts.
