Pamela A. Griffin

February 5, 1961 — May 27, 2021

Pamela A. Griffin, age 60, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 5, 1961, she was the daughter of Evelyn Shippee.  She was raised in the Greenville village of Smithfield, Rhode Island, where she graduated from Smithfield High School with the Class of 1979.  Following her graduation, Pam attended Broward Community College in Florida and later earned credits to obtain her hairdressing license, working in the field for several years.

Pam married her beloved husband, Timothy P. Griffin in 1983.  The young couple made their home together in Greenville, where they welcomed their son, Nathan.  After welcoming Nate, Pam was an avid hairdresser until beginning a career in hospitality that stretched over 30 years starting at the Biltmore Hotel and continuing with Mainstay suites, Marshall hotels and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts where she was lead in operations and task force sales as well as management. She earned various awards from each company in high sales. In addition to working hard in her career, Pam finished her degree at Johnson and Wales University.

Throughout her life, Pam was passionate about the care of animals, donating to various charities to help shelters and rescues.  Above all, she loved horses, spending countless hours riding, attending shows and love horse racing. Her kindness extended beyond her animals, as she put everyone's needs before her own, serving with the Feinstein Foundation of Rhode Island and donating to the annual Giving Tree at the State House.

When she wasn't hard at work or volunteering her time, Pam enjoyed some quiet time, crafting, refinishing furniture, decorating, making jewelry, and tending to gardens. She also enjoyed attending arts shows, including the Scituate Art Festival and the craft show at Seven Cedars Farm.  As an avid traveler, Pam set out on many adventures with her dog, Lina, searching for the best beaches and cuisine they could find.  As a self-proclaimed "foodie," Pam loved checking out new restaurants, finding new cuisine to enjoy. She was an excellent cook, who was never afraid to try something new.  While Pam stayed busy, she always made time for her son, Nate, who was truly her greatest joy.
