Mrs. Nora M. (Fitzgibbon) Powers age 84 years died in the Norwood Hospital , Norwood, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born in Charlestown, Massachusetts on May 4, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Julia (Noonan) Fitzgibbon. Graduated with the Class of 1945 from Saint Columbkille High School in Brighton. Before raising and caring for her family she worked as an executive secretary for the Boston Edison Company. Once her family was grown she has worked for the past 30 years as the office manager for her son Thomas business, Powers Plumbing and Reality Company.
A resident of East Walpole since 1960, she moved here from Brighton.
An active member of Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole, where she taught Religious Education and sang in the church choir.
Her interests included sewing, baking and especially caring for her grandchildren.
Beloved wife of William H. Powers Loving mother of Robert P. Powers of Wenham, Mary J. Lewek of Hanson, Thomas J. Powers of Easton, Noreen E. Gordon of East Walpole, and William J. Powers of Stuttgart,Germany. Cherished grandmother of Thomas, Peter, James, Ryan, Nell, Kellie, Betsy, Abigail, Tara, Alec, Audrey, Amy and Charlie. Sister of Catherine McIver of North Easton, Thomas Fitzgibbon of Waban, John Fitzgibbon of Brookline, Edward Fitzgibbon of Burlington, Sheila Fuller of Reading, Eileen Allen of Bedford, the late Mary Fitzgibbon, the late Joan Fitzgibbon, and the late Buddy Fitzgibbon. Also survived by many nieces and nephews
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Funeral that will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church 176 Washington Street East Walpole on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 @ 9AM. Visiting hours are Monday, May 7, 2012, from 4pm to 8pm at James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole . Interment Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
