Noemi (Ciannavei) Campanario, age 68, passed away peacefully in the Norwood Hospital on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Born in Ascoli Piceno, Italy on April 18, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Guido F. and Irma (Gabrielli) Ciannavei. She spent her early childhood in Italy, where she received her grade school education, before immigrating to the United States with her family. Noemi's family settled in Walpole, Massachusetts and she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1968, where Noemi was a member of the Homemaker Club and the National Honor Society. She continued her education at the Henry O. Peabody School in Norwood, graduating in 1969.
She took her first secretarial job with Lorusso Corporation, working for Joseph Lorusso. After 3 years, Noemi took a position with the Masoneilan Corporation, working as the secretary to Norman Ambrose.
Once Noemi welcomed her children, she took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family. She also cared for her brother's twin daughters, traveling to his home to get them ready for school daily. After her children were grown, she returned to the working world, taking a part time position with Kohl's.
Noemi's Italian roots remained strong throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Sons of Italy in Norwood and the Walpole Italian American Club. At the I.A. in Walpole, she had served as the president of the club and the bocce league that they hosted. In addition, she was the past treasurer of the bocce league and was her team's current captain. She loved staying active, both physically and socially, regularly bowling in leagues at the Norwood Sports Center. Most of all, she loved being surrounded by her family and helping care for her grandchildren.
