Mr. Noel Richard "Jake" Hill age 86 years died in his Walpole home on Thursday Morning, June 11, 2009. Born in Barnes, Kansas on May 3, 1923, the son of Ira and Lois (Maple) Hill. He graduated from Barnes High School with the Class of 1942, he entered the United States Navy and servec his country during World War II and Korea. While attached as a medic to the 4th Marine Division, serving in the South Pacific , Mr. Hill earned a Silver Star. Mr. Hill was known as "Doc" to his Marine Corp friends and was a special guest at all of their reunions.
A resident of Walpole for the past 57 years moving here from Kansas.
Mr. Hill was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Walpole Department of Public Works for over 30 years and he retired in 1988.
Jake was an avid reader, a fisherman who enjoyed fresh water fishing, salt water fishing and deep sea fishing. He enjoyed taking care of his vegetable gardens. He was a mechanic , he could fix just about anything, his pride was his 31 Ford Model A Sedan.
A member of the Norwood Elks BPOE, the Walpole Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5188, and the North Walpole Fish and Game Club. Beloved husband of Mary E. (Tarchea) Hill. Loving father of Janet L.and her husband David Perkins of Hampton, New Hampshire, Jeanne M. Hill of Walpole, N. Richard, Jr. and his wife Janel Hill of Raynham, and Karen L. Martin of Mansfield. Cherished grandfather of Lesley Hill, Cameron Perkins, Gregory Martin, and Evan Hill Also survived many relatives in Kansas and Nebraska
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route #27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Monday, June 15, 2009 @ 10 AM. Visiting hours are Sunday, June 14, 2009, from 2pm to 8pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole . Interment Saint Francis Cemetery, Walpole. .
