Nelson Balboa, age 68 years, died in the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Born in Havana, Cuba on March 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Roberto and Josephine (Perdomo) Balboa. He was raised in educated in Cuba. Nelson came to the United States in 1984. He has been a resident of of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 13 years moving from Roslindale.
He was a carpenter by trade and worked as a custodian at Arthur Blank and Roche Brothers both in West Roxbury. He retired as a custodian from Boston University in 2010.
Nelson was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in Narragansett, Boston Harbor, and the Cape Cod Canal for Striped Bass. He enjoyed carpentry, listening to music, espcially rock and roll, and his Cuban Cigars on the back porch. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Beloved husband of Olga (Martinez) Balboa. Loving father of Janet C. Ackles and her husband Arthur of Walpole. Cherished grandfather of Ryan and Nathan Ackles both of Walpole. Brother of Roberto Balboa of Havana, Cuba.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Nelson's Life Celebration on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 4-8PM and Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 1-1:30 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church 10 Diamond Street Walpole on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
