Nellie E. Perrault

Nellie E. (Wertz) Perrault, age 95, passed away in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Born in Silver Spring, Pennsylvania on July 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Vernon A. and Ruth E. (Reeder) Wertz. She was raised in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania and graduated from Lemoyne High School with the Class of 1941. After graduation, Nellie enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving her country during World War II. She was stationed at the Naval Barracks in Washington, DC, serving as a Storekeeper, Third Class.

While on active duty, Nellie met her husband to be, Daniel Perrault, who was also serving in the Navy. They were married on January 1, 1946 and were both honorably discharged later that year. Nellie and Daniel were married for 71 years, until Dan passed away in February of 2017. The young couple made their home together in Tiverton, Rhode Island, where Nellie took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family. In 1954, Nellie moved her family to Barrington, Rhode Island, before finally settling in Walpole in 1967, where she worked various part time retail positions.

Throughout her lifetime, Nellie was an avid reader and enjoyed working on various craft projects. As an avid square dancer, she was a long-time member of the Dancing Squares and loved creating and sewing her own beautiful outfits for the dances. In addition, she enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and took a great interest in and excelled in training pet dogs.

Family was of great importance to Nellie, she loved being surrounded by those she loved and was especially happy when she spent time with her grandchildren and their friends. She was frequently sought out by many younger people for life advice and help with different issues.

Devoted surrogate mother to Melanie Forry and Deborah Wysong.
Cherished grandmother of Crystal Allard of Walpole, Caitlin Wysong of Manchester, New Hampshire, Timothy Perrault of Lowell, Ashley Sbardelli of Mansfield, and Anthony Giacobble of Plainville and great grandmother of Landen Sbardelli.
Sister of the late Donald Wertz, Milard Wertz, and Joanne Rife.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

All services are private at the request of Nellie's family. Interment will take place in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
