Nancy Servais, formerly of Walpole, Massachusetts, passed peacefully on April 1, 2023 surrounded by her loving children. Her strength of character was evident even in the face of dementia. She continued to surprise her family and caregivers with her fortitude and resilience in the face of many challenges. Her gratitude towards those who cared for her was always evident, she never failed to light up a situation with her smile and never failed to ask for someone’s name.
A longtime resident of Walpole, Nancy spent decades residing in homes on Turner’s Pond and later Swan Pond. She was honored by her role on the board at Swan Pond, a community that held a special place in her heart, and a place that she always considered home. She was a devoted friend, who loved to socialize, and considered her treasured friends part of her extended family.
Nancy, always vocal about her love for the town of Walpole, could often be seen enjoying long walks about town. Her love of the town served her well during a long career as a realtor in Walpole, where she spent many years at Conway Realtors and then ReMax. She was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, and taught elementary school in Attleboro, MA while in her twenties. Her second career in real estate began in her forties and extended well into her seventies.
An avid and beautiful skier, she was one of the earliest members of the Attleboro Ski Club. She initially joined the ski club while single in her twenties, and her children were raised sharing her love of the sport. Many fond memories were built during decades of skiing and enjoying the club lodge in Franconia, NH. Nancy also enjoyed traveling with other members of the ski club to ski in the western US, Canada and Europe.
Anyone who knew Nancy knew of her lengthy and exceptional devotion to the NE Patriots. She was a fan for decades. She was proud of the fact that she was one of a few that would wait for the team bus years ago, at Schaefer Stadium, before the team’s meteoric rise. Neighbors became accustomed to noisy Sunday afternoons during game season.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Meg Mangan (and Bill) of Greenwich, CT, her son R. Paul Servais (and Juanita) of Windsor, CO, and son Peter Servais (and Keri) of Attleboro, MA. She also leaves four grandchildren, Evan Servais, Kate Servais, Jayne Mangan and Devin Fahey.
She is also survived by her sister Denise Burgmann (and Robert), as well as her sister-in-law, Joanne Boyd.
She is predeceased by her brother George Philip Boyd of North Attleboro, MA, and her ex-husband Robert Servais of Mansfield, MA.
A memorial will held to honor her life at St. Francis Cemetery, Washington St. @ Pine St. in Walpole on Thursday, May 4th at 10:30 AM, all are welcome.
