Nancy L. Rowean

February 16, 1938 — August 22, 2022

Nancy L.  (McDargh) Rowean, age 84, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at her home in East Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Cook and Helen (Ferris) McDargh.  She was raised in Norwood, where she graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1955.  Nancy continued her education at Boston University, where she earned her bachelors degree.

Nancy married her beloved husband, Louis Francis Rowean, on August 20, 1960, in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, in her hometown of Norwood.  The young couple initially made their home in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where Nancy took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.  In 1965, Nancy and Louis settled into their home in Walpole, where they raised three children, Kim, Cheryl, and Robert.  As her children grew up, Nancy took a position with George Najarian, working as a cashier in his store, Curtain Rexall Pharmacy.  While home was in Walpole, in her later years, Nancy looked forward to escaping the cold and snow of New England, spending her winter months with Louis in Siesta Key, Florida.

Back at home, Nancy enjoyed working on various projects in and around her home.  As a talented artist, she regularly worked with acrylic paint, creating wonderful works that she could share with others.  She was a whiz with her knitting needles, crafting various items to give to her family and friends.  Outside her house, Nancy cultivated her flower gardens, ensuring they were meticulously arranged and well cared for.  After everything at home was in order, Nancy would treat herself to a shopping trip, visiting all the secondhand stores, looking for the best deal on brand name merchandise.  While she stayed active, Nancy enjoyed some quiet time too, whether collecting coins or finding a new favorite book.  However, most of all, Nancy was dedicated to her family, treasuring the countless memories that were created over the years.

Beloved wife of the late Louis Francis Rowean.

Loving mother of Kim Rowean-Finley and her husband, Michael, of East Walpole, Cheryl A. Berglund of Alaska, and Robert F. Rowean of Hyannis.
