Nancy Peterson

Nancy (Brayton) Peterson, April 9, 2016, age 77, of Walpole. She is survived by her husband Walter, her son David and his wife Donna of Milford, MA, her daughter Linda Hawley and her husband James of Branford, CT, her grandson Daniel of Honolulu, and her granddaughter Elizabeth of Millbury, MA. Nancy was a 20-year survivor of breast cancer and fought Parkinson's Disease for 15 years.

She was born in Cambridge, MA on June 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Clinton E. and Alice (Worth) Brayton. She was raised in Belmont and enjoyed summering in Falmouth. After graduating from Belmont High School with the Class of 1955, she attended Colby Junior College, earning her associates degree in 1957.

While at Colby, Nancy met her soon to be husband, Walter, and they were married on August 22, 1959. They made their home in Cambridge for a brief time before settling in Walpole in 1960. After welcoming her children, David and Linda, Nancy took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family.

In 1970, Nancy took a position with the Masoneilan Company in Norwood as an administrative assistant. She remained with the company through the move to Avon and retired in 2000. In her retirement, she volunteered at the Norwood Hospital as a therapeutic hand masseuse.

Her tradition of summering in Falmouth continued throughout her life and she loved walking Menauhant Beach collecting sea glass. She also enjoyed working in her yard, playing bingo, knitting, and playing with her calico cat, Abigail.

Most important to Nancy was her family. She and Walter loved traveling together and the time spent at the beach with her children was treasured.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Nancy's Life Celebration on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. Funeral arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the Marian Scott Peterson Memorial Scholarship, c/o The Norwood Scholarship Foundation, P.O.
