Nancy E. McLachlan

Nancy E. (Hill) McLachlan age 61 years died in her Norfolk, Massachusetts home on Friday, February 13, 2009. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on October 8, 1947, she graduated from Keene High School in Keene, NH with the class of 1965. She later graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with the class of 1973. She had been living in Norfolk for the past 28 years and had previously lived with her husband Gordon in Houston Texas, Norton Massachusetts, Foxborough Massachusetts, as well as The Netherlands & Australia.

Mrs. McLachlan spent most of her life as a loving mother and homemaker; however much of her free time was dedicated to volunteering for the Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice, the Thrift Store in Attleboro, and teaching English as a second language to young adult immigrants.

Beloved wife of Gordon D. McLachlan. Loving mother of Alex G. McLachlan of Natick. Devoted daughter of Barbara (Goodwin) Hill and the late John A. Hill Sister of Jack Hill of Milton, Martha Horan of Dracut, Betsey Christiansen of Marion, David Hill of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and Jennifer Ambrecht of Tallahassee, Florida. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 3-4:30PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. An informal, reflection service will be held following the visitation in the funeral home at 4:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations may be made to any of the following: Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice Norwood, Friends of the Norfolk Public Library, The Greater Boston Food Bank, American Cancer Society, The Trustees of Reservations, Mass. Audubon Society, Animal Rescue League, or the charity of your choice.
