Mrs. Mildred Edith (Smith) Rockwood age 87 years died in the Caritas Norwood Hospital , Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday Morning, November 28, 2007. Born in her parents Walpole home on May 20, 1920, the daughter of the late William E. and Margaret P. (Litchfield) Smith. She was a life long resident of Walpole. Graduating from Walpole High School with the Class of 1938.

Mrs. Rockwood served as the Assistant Town Clerk for over 27 years and retired in 1995. She represented Precinct 3 for 30 years in the Representative Town Meeting, a member of the Town of Walpole Historical Commission, a member of the Walpole Historical Society, a member of the former Lend A Hand Club, member of the Walpole High School Hall of Fame Committee. She was a 50+ year member of the United Church in Walpole, where she had taught Sunday School and was a member of various committees over the years.

Beloved wife of the late Walter C. Rockwood, Jr. Loving mother of Robert C. and his wife Kirsten Rockwood of Needham, Patricia R. and her husband Paul "Spike" Yonker , Thomas S. and his wife Kathleen Rockwood, Richard W. and his wife Carmen Rockwood all of Walpole, and the late Alan D. Rockwood Mother in law of Theresa Rockwood of Walpole Cherished grandmother of 12 Sister of Kenneth A. and his wife Dorothy Smith of Walpole, the late William E. Smith, Jr, Harold M. Smith, Ruth Smith, Dorothy Farrar, Clifford E. Smith, Marion I. Cole. Sister in law of Alfreda Smith of Walpole

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service in the United Church in Walpole 30 Common Street Walpole on Saturday morning, December 1st, 2007 at 10AM. Visiting hours are Friday afternoon, November 30th, 2007 from 3pm to 7pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment to be private.
