Michael T. Tracey

Michael T. Tracey, age 55, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on December 14, 1962, he was the son of Thomas B. and Irene L. (Clarkson) Tracey. Mike was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts and graduated from Tri-County Regional Technical High School with the Class of 1981.

Mike began his working career in the automotive repair field, running Liberty Radiator out of Tire Specialist's garage in Walpole. He also operated his own handyman service, MRN Enterprises, from his home in Mansfield. In the mid-1990s, Mike left the auto repair and handyman business to take a position with the Walpole Housing Authority, working in the maintenance department. Mike transitioned from the Housing Authority to the maintenance department of J.D. Murphy Real Estate in Walpole, however returned to the Walpole Housing Authority in the early 2000s. In addition to working as a maintenance man, Mike also worked as a bartender in various Walpole restaurants, including, the Barlycorn, TiTi's, and The Patriot.

After his retirement from the Walpole Housing Authority, Mike took a position with the Foxborough Public Schools in the Maintenance Department and also worked for several years at Plainridge Race Course, caring for the horses, in addition to working a security position at Gillette Stadium.

In his off time, Mike enjoyed following NASCAR, playing rounds of golf, and participating in local pool leagues. As a former member of the Norwood Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE), Mike enjoyed playing horseshoes with fellow members at their lodge.

Cherished grandfather of Ryan M. Tracey, Jr., Evan Tracey, Lily Mazenkas, and Brandon Mazenkas.
Former husband of Diane E. Valentine of Foxborough.
Devoted son of Irene L. (Clarkson) Tracey and the late Thomas B. Tracey.
Brother of Linda L. Tracey-Clifton of South Easton, Patricia A. Millette of Walpole, Sandra M. Tracey of South Attleboro, Kathleen Tracey Waple of Walpole, Deborah M. Lighbody of Walpole, Virginia Tracey of Walpole, Donna M. Quigley of Foxborough, Thomas M. Tracey of North Easton, Cynthia T. Smith of Walpole, Wendy M. Mazenkas of Walpole, Karen A. Tracey of Walpole, Jaqueline M. Titus of Attleboro, Michelle L. Melanson of Plainville, the late David M. Tracey, and the late Mary Tracey.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mike's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Norwood Hospital for their care and compassion over the past few weeks.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Mike's Life Celebration on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 2 to 6 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. Funeral service and interment will be private at the request of Mike's family.
