Michael Joseph McVane

September 8, 1930 — November 29, 2018

Michael J. “Joe” McVane, age 88, died peacefully, on November 29, 2018, at The Atrium at Faxon Woods in Quincy.  Born in Malden on September 8, 1930, he was the son of Michael and Florence McVane.  Joe voluntarily served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of two Bronze Star Medals; he was honorably discharged in 1953. 
 
Joe worked for Breakstone's, Kraft Foods and Garelick Farms before retiring in 1998.  Joe will be remembered as a man who valued time spent with his family, thoroughly embraced and enjoyed his career and loved a good game of golf. 
 
Joe was predeceased by his wife Marilyn M. (Bernard) McVane and is survived by his children Marilyn F. McVane (Florida), Michael J. McVane (Florida), David (Jodi) McVane (Cohasset) and Brian (Kathy) McVane (Hingham).  He also leaves three grandchildren, Matthew McVane, Benjamin McVane and Emily McVane and many nieces and nephews.  Joe was the dear brother of Mary Hallahan of New York,  Judith Cunningham, Jack McVane, Mary Lou McVane and Virginia Alexander all of Florida and the late Barbara Coulliard, Theresa Moschella, Jean Fielding and Doris Doherty. 
 
The McVane family would like to thank the staff of The Atrium at Faxon Woods for their exceptional care and comfort provided to Joe over the past six years.  
 
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 11:00-12:30PM at the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street,Walpole, followed by an in-house Prayer Service at 12:30PM. Committal Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
