Michael Patrick Lally, Jr. Age 40, of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Bridgewater, MA
passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2023.
Born on March 5, 1983, Mike was the most beloved son of Marianne Pierce of Bridgewater, MA and Michael P. Lally, Sr. and his stepmother Susan M. Lally of Stockton, NJ. Mike was a lifelong resident of Bridgewater until he moved to Pennsylvania to further his career in aviation.
Mike attended St. Mary’s Primary School in Taunton and was a 2001 graduate of Coyle & Cassidy High School. He was a proud graduate of Bridgewater State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 2005.
A member of the Civil Air Patrol as a youth, Mike had a lifelong passion for aviation. Mike obtained his solo pilot’s license and his driver’s permit on his sixteenth birthday. His passion for aviation brought him to the US Army National Guard where he trained at Ft. Rucker, Alabama to become a UH-60 Blackhawk Pilot.
Mike began his military career with the Massachusetts National Guard in
Company A 3rd Battalion 126 th Aviation Regiment and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn assigned to Camp Buehring Kuwait.
His second deployment was with the Pennsylvania National Guard in 2 nd Battalion 104th Aviation Regiment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom assigned to Bagram Air Base Afghanistan.
Mike’s passion for flying helicopters did not end when he retired from the
National Guard. He was employed as a Life Flight helicopter pilot for Geisinger Health Systems in Pennsylvania since 2019 where he put his extensive flying skills including night vision flying and single pilot instrument flight certification to work helping others. He was employed at Geisinger at the time of his passing where he will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues.
Mike was the proud Godfather and uncle of John “Cash” Reddington of
Stoughton, and beloved uncle of James Dean Reddington of Stoughton, and Grant and Lincoln Medeiros of Dighton. He is also survived by his grandmother Ann Lally of Norfolk, MA as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Mike was preceded in death by beloved grandparents that include maternal grandparents Rose and William “Plain Old and Gi” Pierce of Dedham, MA paternal grandfather Thomas Lally of Randolph and paternal grandmother Joan Lally of Middleborough.
All are invited to attend funeral services to be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:15 am at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA 02532 (508-563-7113).
All are welcome to a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 12:30 pm at LeBaron Hills Country Club, 183 Rhode Island Road, Lakeville, MA 02347 where we will celebrate the life of this loving son and loyal friend who was known to be a great listener, and a man who was able to live his dream as a pilot and a patriot.
