Maureen D. (Donnelly) Reidy of East Walpole died at home on June 3rd 2007 surrounded by her family. She was 50.
Born and raised in Concord, Massachusetts, Maureen attended Concord-Carlisle High School where she was a superb three-sport athlete and was named the most outstanding student of the 1975 graduating class.
Maureen received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Skidmore College, Saratoga, NY in 1980. Maureen was a registered nurse who worked many years at Children's Hospital and New England Medical Center Nurse Epidemiology in Boston before moving to Walpole to raise a family.
Maureen enjoyed golf and she coached many youth sports teams in Walpole including basketball, soccer and softball. In fact, Maureen was a youth coach for many of the young women athletes at Walpole High School today. Maureen also worked as a substitute school nurse for the Walpole School system, and participated very actively as a school volunteer in her children's schools.
Maureen is survived by her husband, John Reidy and her three children, Christopher, Caroline and Philip. She was the daughter of Frederick J. Donnelly, Jr. of Concord, MA and the late Winifred M. Donnelly. She is also survived by her sister Jean Wisnewski-Pochebit and her husband, Mark of Barrington, R.I., Richard Donnelly and his wife, Mary of Littleton, MA and Brian Donnelly and his wife, Beth of Hopedale, MA as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 7, 2007 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Walpole at 10AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday, June 6, 2007 from 3-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Internment was in the St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord, MA. Memorial donations may be made to Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice, 3 Edgewater Drive, Norwood, MA. 02062 and to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brain Tumor Research, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.
