Maureen Theresa Erickson

Maureen Theresa Erickson, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 29, 1953, she was the daughter of Terrence J. and Mary P. (Mahoney) O'Grady. She spent her early childhood in Jamaica Plain before her family settled in Sharon, Massachusetts in 1960. Maureen attended Sharon Public Schools and graduated from Sharon High School with the Class of 1971. After graduation, she took a position with the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton as a Nurse's Aide.

Maureen met her husband, Daniel N. Erickson, in 1971 while she was still in high school. They were married on August 12, 1978, making their home together in Sharon. After welcoming her two daughters, Noelle and Laura, Maureen left the Mass Hospital School to be a stay at home mom, raising and caring for her young family. Once both of her girls were enrolled in school, Maureen started her own in home day care. In 2010, she welcomed her first grandchild and decided to retire after 20 years, to help provide day care for her grandson. As her family began to grow with the addition of two more grandchildren, Maureen and Dan spent half of every week at their daughter's home in Granby, Connecticut, helping care for and raise Samuel, Reese, and Andrew.

The beach was one of Maureen's favorite places to be, and she and Dan took yearly trips to both Bermuda and Nantucket to enjoy spending time by the ocean. She frequented Duxbury Beach and could be found lying in the sun reading a good book or swimming in the ocean. From the time she was a young girl, Maureen loved animals and always had cats and dogs at her house. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, whether taking a winter ski trip up north or spending time on the family boat. However, it was the quiet time with her girls and grandchildren that she treasured most.

Cherished grandmother of Samuel, Reese, and Andrew.
Devoted daughter of Mary P. (Mahoney) O'Grady of Plymouth and Largo, Florida and the late Terrence J. O'Grady.
Loving sister of Terrence O'Grady and his wife Irene of Dorchester, Patricia Fitzpatrick and her husband William of Foxboro, and Diane Cole and her husband Kerry of Plymouth.
Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Maureen's Life Celebration on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4-8 PM and Friday, March 3, 2017 from 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage Street, Sharon on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
