Mary E. O'Malley

March 20, 1921 — June 17, 2014

Mary E. (Meyer) O'Malley, age 93, died in her Summer Cottage in Brant Rock on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on March 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Karl G. and Margaret F. (Hoey) Meyer. She has been a resident of East Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 72 years and enjoyed summering in Brant Rock.

When Mary and her husband, John, began their family, she served as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. After her family had grown, she went to work as the Activities Director at the Maples Nursing and Rehabiliation Center in Wrentham, where she served for 8 years.

As a supporter of Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole, she was a member of Saint Mary's Sodality. She was a talented crafter and enjoyed making dolls to donate to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital as well as making quilts. She had won many blue ribbons at the Marshfield Fair for her quilts and various crafts. In addition, she was an avid gardener and loved reading books, especially Mysteries. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, who affectionately called her NooNoo.

Beloved wife of the late John J. O'Malley. Loving mother of Dennis J. O'Malley of East Walpole, Sheila A. O'Malley of East Walpole, Maureen C. Garretson of Marshfield, and Kathleen B. Tetrault and her husband William of Marshfield. Cherished grandmother of Jessica Garretson and her husband Paul McAleer of Marshfield, Sarah Garretson and her fiance Michael DeCoste of Carver, William Tetrault, Melanie Tetrault and her friend Carson Cruz, and John Tetrault all of Marshfield. Sister of Julia Curran of Norwood, Barbara Dwyer of E. Walpole and pre deceased by 26 brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Mary's Life Celebration on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2-6 PM and Monday, June 23, 2014 from 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary's Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Shriner's Childrens Hospital 51 Blosson Strteet, Boston, MA 02114 or Rosie's Place 889 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02118.
