Mary A. (Civitarese) Lennon, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Her children spent the last days with her celebrating her wonderful life. She was born in Boston, on September 10, 1928, the daughter of Alphonse and Rita (Marinucci) Civitarese.
Mary graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1947. Shortly after graduation, she worked in South Station where she met and eventually married the love of her life, Edward Francis Lennon, on October 8, 1950.
She loved to cook and bake. She especially enjoyed making authentic Italian dishes – using recipes and techniques passed down her family for generations. For many years she volunteered at the polls and worked the school cafeterias. In the 1980s, she began one of the passions of her life – line dancing. She became a certified line dance instructor and established Mary Lennon “Happy Feet” Line Dancing. She taught a large following of seniors for the next 30+ years, before eventually retiring in 2018. She was also an avid gardener, as well as bird watching enthusiast. Even into her 90s, she would confidently repeat her mantra, “You’ve gotta keep moving.”
Loving mother of Maryann A. Connolly and her husband Kevin of Plymouth; Edward J. Lennon and his wife Kathleen of Seekonk; Patricia A. Tinnell and her husband James of Attleboro; Thomas F. Lennon and his wife Maureen of Franklin; and John E. Lennon of Taunton.
Cherished grandmother of eleven grand children and fourteen great grandchildren.
