Mary K. (Kilgallon) Hickey, age 62, passed away in the Brigham and Women's Hospital on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 30, 1955, she was the daughter of Martin S. and Alice T. (Kelley) Kilgallon. She was raised in Medway, Massachusetts, where as a young girl, she loved riding horses, and graduated from Medway High School with the Class of 1973. After graduation, Mary took a position with the Medfield State Hospital in the Transitional House.
Mary married her beloved husband, Eugene P. Hickey, III, on November 20, 1976. The young couple made their home together in Walpole, Massachusetts, where they raised their family. As a dedicated member of her new community and someone who loved town politics, Mary proudly served on the Finance Committee and as a Representative to Town Meeting Member for many years. In 1987, Mary took a job with the New England Baptist Hospital, working as an office manager. In November of 2015, Mary and Gene settled into their new home in Franklin, where they have spent the last 2 years. She was incredibly dedicated to her job and only retired in July of this year, after spending the past 11 years working with Dr. Carl Talmo.
Mary and Gene loved spending time in Florida and would take driving trips to Boca Raton before eventually purchasing a home in Kissimmee. Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed traveling to Walt Disney World, and loved the opportunity that she and Gene had to bring their grandchildren along with them. While she did enjoy the parks in Florida, Mary also took the time to play a few rounds of golf. While at home in Walpole, Mary enjoyed spending time shopping and visiting yard sales, always looking for a good deal.
Most important to Mary was her family, her life was centered around them. While her children were young she ran "Mom's Taxi," driving them to all of their practices and games. She was overjoyed when her family grew with the addition of grandchildren and would do absolutely anything for them.
