Mary Catherine Grover

Mary Catherine (Maude) Grover, age 82, passed away in her Norton, Massachusetts home on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Born in Natick, Massachusetts on December 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John Charles and Ella Emma (Smith) Maude. She was raised in Natick and graduated from Natick High School. While living in Natick, she was very involved with the Natick Emblem Club, where she served as past president.

Mary spent her working career as a waitress, working at her sister's restaurant, Carlo's, in Natick, at Finnerty's in Wayland, Agostino's in Natick, and after settling in Florida, she worked in various restaurants in her area. Throughout her life, Mary was a strong, caring sister, friend and mother who was extremely dedicated to her family throughout her life. Therefore, in 2011, she moved back North to be closer with her daughter and family.

As the beloved companion of the late Frederick M. Ashby, they spent over twenty five years together and enjoyed camping and cooking for their group of friends. Mary loved her two Boston Terriers, Amy and Abby, and her Maine Coon cat, Raven.

Sister of Claire Clark of Natick, Margaret Baty of Florida, the late Harriet Fry, the late Patricia Perkins, and the late Louis Maude.
Cherished godmother of Cathy Fry DiCecca of Plymouth and Cyndi Clark Tomasetti of Natick. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who she loved seeing at the family gatherings.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Wingate Residences at Norton, Sunshine Fund, 190 Mansfield Avenue, Norton, MA 02766. Mary's family is grateful for the dedicated staff who provided Mary with friendship, respect, dignity, joy and care during her four years at Wingate.
