Sister Mary Margaret Flynn age 76 years died in the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on September 20, 2008. She was born in Salem, Massachusetts on January 12, 1932. She graduated from Emmanuel College with the class of 1963, Salem State College with the class of 1974, Saint Michael's College in Vermont with the class of 1983, and The School of Applied Theology in Berkeley, California with the class of 1983. She took her first vows on January 30, 1953 and her final vows on July 30, 1958.
Sr. Flynn worked as a teacher in Beverly Farms, Andover, Cambridge, Lawrence, Woburn, Worcester, Marblehead at Saint Mary's Star of the Sea, and in Lynn at Saint Mary's High School. She also worked for the Commonweath of Massachusetts Department of Correction in the Norfolk Prison as a teacher.
She belonged to many educational and peace and justice organizations.
She is survived by her Sisters in Community and was the daughter of the late Martin and Arlene Mary (Dockham) Flynn. Sister of Arlene M. and her husband Connie Iannaccone of Medford, Theresa A. Robinson of Methuen, Joan C. and her husband Philip Russo of Peabody, Michael C. and his wife Joan Flynn of FL, the late Martin F. Flynn and the late Francis X. Flynn. Sister in law of Pricilla Flynn and Carmen Barry both of Beverly. Niece of Mary Dockham of Beverly. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Saint Jude's Church 86 Main Street Norfolk on Tuesday evening at 6 PM. Visiting hours are in Saint Jude's Church on Tuesday from 4-6PM with a prayer service at 4:30. Interment is on Wednesday morning at 10AM in the Sisters of Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich, MA.
