Mary E. Earley

December 25, 1920 — July 11, 2013

Mary Elizabeth Earley, known to her family as Betty, died peacefully in Brewster, MA, on Thursday, July 11. Born in Walpole on Christmas Day, 1920 to Thomas and Emily (Patton) Earley, she chose a career in weather forecasting for the Federal Government, unusual for a woman in the 1940's, and spent many years working at the airports in Hartford, Washington DC, Boston, and finally, Chatham, from which she retired in 1978. She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed travelling, bowling and the New York Times crossword puzzle (in ink, of course).

Predeceased by her siblings Margaret , Jack, and Tom Earley, she leaves behind nieces and nephews, Martha (Earley) DiChiara of Wrentham, John Earley of Alabama, David Earley of Norfolk, Betsy (Earley) Hazel of Walpole, and TJ Earley of Pocasset, along with four great-nephews, one great-niece, and several cousins.

A private burial will take place in the family plot in Westwood. A memorial service will be held later at a time to be determined. The family would appreciate contributions in her memory made to the VNA of Cape Cod 255 Independence Drive Hyannis, MA 02601. Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home Walpole.
