Mary A. Dunn

Mary A. (Robson) Dunn, age 81, passed away on February 6, 2025, at Milford Regional Hospital in Milford, Massachusetts. Born in Wrentham, Massachusetts on September 10, 1943, she was the daughter of Gilbert D. and Anna L. (Chaisson) Robson. Mary was raised in Wrentham and attended Wrentham public schools. After her graduation from King Philip High School in the early 1960's, Mary worked for a variety of jobs and enjoyed spending time with her beau, Tom Dunn, whom she had met through her brother.

Mary married the love of her life, Thomas Harold Dunn, on June 18, 1965, in Norfolk, Massachusetts. The young couple made their married home in Wrentham, Massachusetts, a town that Mary loved so dearly. During this time Mary transitioned to being a homemaker, and shortly thereafter a mother, with the birth of her beloved daughter Debra. Mary was a doting mother and remained at home until Debra was old enough to attend school. With Debra in school, Mary returned to the workforce, taking a job with the United States Postal Service. She served her community as a letter carrier for more than 30 years, delivering their mail in rain or shine, heat or snow. Retirement to Mary meant more free time for fun, including spending time with Tom on their boat, which they once sailed from Warwick, Rhode Island down to Miami, Florida!

Mary had three real passions in life; her family, her home, and her love of fast cars. Mary loved spending time with her husband and daughter, enjoying adventures together as well as just relaxing with their two cats and two dogs at home overlooking Lake Pearl. Her home on Lake Pearl was where she was happiest, watching the calm waters and appreciating the serenity of nature around her. Mary was a lifelong resident of Wrentham and took pride in her hometown. In addition to serving her community with the USPS, Mary was also a member of the Sweat Advisory Committee in addition to acting as the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen for several years.

Mary's free time typically consisted of working on her cars and going to races. She and Tom loved traveling to various drag races all over New England and Canada. Tom would drive and Mary would be his mechanic, working on the car in the pit and at home, ensuring he would be primed and ready for the races. Eventually the pair transitioned from drag racing to circle track racing, hitting up Seekonk and local speedways with their own race car. Notably, Mary became the first woman owner of a NASCAR vehicle in New England.
