Mary Conroy, 96 of Norwood and longtime resident of Walpole, MA, passed away on March 27, 2017. She was born on September 1, 1920 in Brighton, MA, the daughter of the late Catherine and James E. Kelley. She is predeceased by her recently deceased husband of nearly 70 years, Thomas Conroy. She is also predeceased by sister Phyllis Tierney and James E. Kelley, Jr.
Mary graduated from Arlington High School in 1939. She worked as a clerk in the US Attorney's Office in Boston from 1942 until 1956 when she became a full-time mother. She married Thomas Conroy of Natick in June 1947. They lived in Walpole from 1952 until moving to Norwood in 2013.
Mary enjoyed baking almost daily, and was best known for her Toll House cookies and weekly apple pies. She enjoyed travelling with her husband Tom and several close friends. Mary was a devout Catholic and communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Mary is survived by three children, John (Jack) Conroy and his wife Judy of Walpole, Thomas Conroy and his wife Mary of Walpole, and daughter, Kathryn and her husband Joseph Carroll of West Barnstable, MA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Leigh Ann Luetzen and husband Bryce, Christine, Susan, David and Peter Conroy, Blake Conroy, Jack and Kevin Carroll.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Mary's visitation on Saturday from 9-10:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Saturday at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
