Maritn M. Stevens age 86 years died in the German Centre in West Roxbury, Massachusetts on Sunday, August 10, 2008. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 27, 1921 to his parents Andrew J. & Beatrice (McDonagh) Stevens, he graduted from Gate of Heaven High School in South Boston with the class of 1939. He went on to complete a 1 year program at Newman Prepatory School in Boston. Mr. Stevens served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Carepenter's Mate. He has been living in Walpole for the past 11 years, coming from Canton, Milton, and origainally from South Boston.
He worked as a General Contractor for his own company M. Stevens Contractors.
Mr. Stevens was a member of the VFW in South Boston.
He was an avid craftsman who loved to spend time with his family.
Beloved husband of Ruth C. (Farrell) Stevens. Loving father of Paul M. and his wife Jean Stevens of Sagamore, Brian J. and his wife Maureen Stevens of Harvard, Marsha R. and her husband John McManus of N. Andover, and Andrea M. Stevens. Cherished grandfather of Andrew Stevens, Kerin McManus, Dana McManus, Geoffrey Stevens, and Colin Stevins. Brother of 4.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church Diamond Street at East Street (Route 27) Walpole on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 10AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment is in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne, Massachusetts.
