Marilyn Frances Gurry, aged 76, passed away on October 19, 2024, in Medfield, MA. Born on January 29, 1948, Marilyn dedicated her career to healthcare, working as a Medical Assistant at notable institutions including The Beth Israel Hospital, Deaconess Hospital, and Faulkner Hospital.
Marilyn was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Class of 65 and furthered her education at Sawyer Business School in Rhode Island. She was known for her vibrant personality, characterized by her humor, strength, bravery, and dependability. A loving mother and grandmother, Marilyn adored her family, especially her two daughters, one son, and eight granddaughters, always making sure she was on time for every family gathering.
Her hobbies reflected her dynamic spirit. Marilyn was always on the move, whether relocating homes or exploring new shopping venues, always searching for a bargain. Her favorite place was the beach on a sunny day. Marilyn cherished times spent at the seaside, or in restaurants enjoying the company of her closest friends, Lorraine Langone and Beverly King, over a baked stuffed lobster.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Callahan) Cunningham married to Ward Cunningham of Walpole, MA, and Tracey (Callahan) Tonsberg of Canton, MA; her son, Brian Callahan of Middleboro, MA; sisters, Barbara Sarnie of West Roxbury, MA, Nancy Connor of Dedham, MA, and Beverly Murray married to Thomas Murray of Walpole, MA.
Her life was also enriched by her beloved granddaughters, Lauren and Morgan Callahan of Buzzards Bay, MA; Christina and Kathryn Cunningham of Denver, CO; Karen Cunningham of Walpole, MA; Olivia (Liv) Tonsberg of Weymouth, MA; Alexandra (Ally) Tonsberg of Ann Arbor, MI; and Caroline Tonsberg of Canton, MA.
Marilyn also leaves 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Lillian Gurry and her brother-In-law, William Sarnie.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 11:00 am at Saint Mary’s Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole.
