Marilee Bristol

Marilee Bristol, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Wilton, Connecticut. Born in Sharon, Connecticut on November 22, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Marion (Schaffer) Dufour. Marilee was raised in Lakeville, Connecticut and attended Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village, Connecticut. Upon her graduation in the late 1950's. she continued her education at Baypath College in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where she received her associates degree in secretarial studies.

Marilee married the love of her life, John A. Bristol, on October 13, 1962, in Sharon, Connecticut. The pair made their married home in Naugatuck, Connecticut, where they would raise a family. During this time, Marilee began her career at Uniroyal in Naugatuck as a keypunch operator, preparing punch card records for the busy company.

In 1976, Marilee and her family moved to Norfolk, Massachusetts and she began to explore new career options. She found the perfect job when she began working as a travel agent. Marilee had a passion for travelling and loved to visit new places. With her new job, she could expertly recommend and coordinate adventures to far off destinations for her many satisfied customers. Marilee worked at a few different travel agencies before joining Friendly Travel in Foxborough, Massachusetts, assisting fellow travel enthusiasts in finding their ideal vacation destinations.

In her free time Marilee had many hobbies. Marilee liked to relax by watching her favorite programs such as General Hospital or tending to her garden. She was always up for a game of tennis and loved to talk sports. Marilee was an avid baseball and basketball fan, watching or attending games as often as she could. She had a great memory for her favorite players or teams’ stats and loved to celebrate a win. And like any good travel agent, Marilee loved to travel. She travelled extensively over the course of her life, but some of her favorite trips were to the California and Washington wine countries with her daughters.

Most important to Marilee was her family. She was a loving and supportive mother who encouraged her girls to reach for the stars, cheering them on from the sidelines of their softball games or from the stands at their gymnastics meets. Marilee's love and support grew even more when her wonderful grandchildren were born. She loved to spend time with her grandkids and made sure to attend as many events for them as she could. Marilee was also a devoted wife, caring for her husband when he was diagnosed with Parkinsons. She will be remembered as a kind and strong woman, who loved to laugh. She will be missed by all.
