Marie Patricia Procaccini

Marie Patricia (Petracca) Procaccini, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Massachusetts.  Born in her parent's East Walpole, Massachusetts home on March 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Scipione and Rose (Verrochi) Petracca.  She was raised in East Walpole and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1947.  As a young woman, Marie helped her father run his business, The Ten Pin Inn, in Walpole center, working in the restaurant above Petracca's Lanes.  Marie later returned to her education, attending dietary school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Upon her return home to Massachusetts, Marie took a position with Pondville Hospital in Norfolk, working as a dietitian. 

Marie married her beloved husband, Paul R. Procaccini, on May 3, 1952, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole.  The young couple made their home together in Walpole, where they welcomed three children, Paul, Lisa, and Jay.  In 1973, Marie took a position with the Paul Dever State School in Taunton, serving as the food service administrator.  She went on to work at the Walter E. Fernald State School in Waltham, while attending night school at Framingham State College.  Marie earned her bachelor's degree in 1984 and five years later she retired from the State School, after many years of dedicated service to her students.

As an avid traveler, Marie looked forward to many vacations throughout the world, visiting twenty-six countries.  Her love for travel sparked an interest in a part-time job opportunity with Paragon Bus Tours, where Marie ensured every traveler was accounted for and their accommodations were booked.  More recently, Marie took a position with "Off 5th" at the Wrentham Outlets, spending countless hours in the store, often times using her employee discount to bring something home for herself.

A close second to travel was Marie's love of the opera, often enjoying a class to learn more about certain productions.  Back at home, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens or trying out one of her mother's recipes that was passed down to her.

Loving mother of Paul R. "Rick" Procaccini and his wife, Joyce, of Beech Island, South Carolina, Lisa Marie Procaccini and her husband, Bill Clayton, of Walpole, and Jay P. Procaccini and his wife, Sherri, of Wrentham.

Cherished grandmother of E.J. Flanagan of Florida, Jaymie P. Procaccini of Medway, and Nicole M. Procaccini of North Carolina; and great grandmother of Jayden, Clayton, and Dylan.

Sister of Frances M. Dziejma of Walpole.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

At the request of Marie's family, all funeral services will be private, with interment taking place in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
