Margaret M. "Peggy" (Nashawaty) Iula, age 71, passed away in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 23, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Demetrie A. and Alice (Matook) Nashawaty. She was raised in Hyde Park and attended Hyde Park High School. While in high school, Peggy was a cheerleader and was voted best dancer of her graduating class in 1962. She also took hairdressing courses in Boston while she was attending high school, and earned her first hairdressing position with Glamorama in Mattapan.
Peggy moved to Walpole in 1976, where she raised her young family, and took a position with Heartland as a cashier in 1978. In the early 1980's, Peggy began working as a receiving and inventory clerk in the produce department of the Regional Distribution Center of Stop and Shop in Readville. She retired in 1998, with over 15 years of dedicated service.
After her retirement, Peggy loved spending time working in her yard and tending to her garden. She also had a passion for cooking, various arts and crafts, and solving crossword puzzles. Family meant everything to Peggy, as a young mother, she spent countless hours decorating her home for the Christmas Season for her children, a tradition which she continued for her grandchildren, who she adored spending time with.
Loving mother of Lisa Iula-Chick of Mansfield and her late husband Christopher, Francis Iula, III. and his wife Suzanne of Peabody, and Bryan Iula of New York.
Cherished grandmother of Demetria, Claudia, Talia, Joseph, Valentina, Francis, IV, Michael, and Kathryn and great grandmother of Dominic.
Sister of Elaine Newton of Walpole and the late Joan Terelak.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Peggy's Life Celebration on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 4-8PM and Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 8:30-9:00AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Joe Andruzzi Foundation, 200 Chauncy St. Suite 208, Mansfield, MA 02048.
