Margaret N. Devito, age 90, of Walpole, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 14, 2020. Born in Weehawken, New Jersey, Sept 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Anna and Charles Yabroudy. She married her husband Mitchell Robert Peters where they made their home together in the house they built in East Walpole and raised their three daughters, Leslie, Elizabeth and Sandra.
Margaret’s early career began in in the television industry and after marrying and starting a family she stayed home to raise her three children. She lost her husband Mitchell at the early age of 44 and eventually resumed a career at a publishing company where her job allowed her to travel to numerous places around the world. She greatly enjoyed traveling to different countries across Europe and also spent time in the Middle East.
Margaret was an exceptionally talented artist with a passion for watercolor painting. She studied under accomplished artists to learn new techniques and became a professional artist herself. As an active member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, she became well known for her beautiful watercolor paintings exhibited and sold in local art galleries. She was a multi-recipient of numerous art awards in national watercolor exhibits.
In addition to her artwork, Margaret loved spending time with her family and 8 grandchildren.
Margaret was a loving mother to Leslie Callan and husband John of Attleboro, Elizabeth Surette and husband William of Franklin, and Sandra Nangeroni and husband Peter of Westwood and cherished sister to Lillian Eid and her husband Joseph of Northborough. She is predeceased by her younger brother Edward Yabroudy. In addition, she leaves her loving grandchildren, predeceased Lisa Callan, Brian Callan, Mitchell and Michelle Surette, Stephen, Erica, Kevin, Peter Nangeroni and other nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Margaret Mary’s in Westwood on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will take place in Saint Basil’s Cemetery, Cumberland Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Rhode Island Watercolor Society, JC Potter Casino Building, Slater Memorial Park, 831 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, RI 02861. Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, Walpole.
