Margaret A. (Nicholson) DeSalvo, age 77 years, died in the Highgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dedham, Massachusetts on Monday, October 28, 2013. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the lateThomas and Sylvia (Black) Nicholson. She graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1955. Margaret was a life long resident of Walpole.
She spent her working career at Bell Telephone and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club. She started as an operator and later became a clerk. She retired in 2003 after many years of service.
Margaret supported many charities, however one of her favorites was the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She walked every year to help raise money.
She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, especially ceramics, and spending time on Cape Cod at the beach. She loved to travel and had been to various place including Florida, the Virgin Islands, Canada, and Ireland.
Beloved wife of the late Richard G. DeSalvo, Sr. Loving mother of Karen A. Mawn and her husband Mike of East Walpole, Richard G. DeSalvo, Jr. of Walpole and David A. DeSalvo of Walpole. Cherished grandmother of 6 and great grandmother of 1. Sister of Winifred Collins of Norwood, Neil Nicholson of Norwood, the late Thomas Nicholson, the late Martha Collins, and the late Sylvia MacLeod. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Margaret's Life Celebration on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 4-7PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A funeral home service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472.
