Margaret C. (Brogan) "Peggy" Cronin, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, following a 20-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at her home in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City on September 18, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Mary (Andrews) Brogan. She was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she graduated from Snyder High School with the Class of 1948 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Caldwell College in 1952. Upon her graduation, she took a position with the Jersey City Public School System, working as an elementary school teacher.
Peggy married her beloved husband, Frank Gerald Cronin, on August 8, 1959, in her hometown of Jersey City. The young couple initially made their home together in northern New Jersey, where Peggy took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. Six years later, Peggy returned to her teaching career, serving as a substitute teacher, and a special education teacher in the Wayne Public School system. In 1973, Peggy and Frank traveled up the east coast to Massachusetts, making their home together in Needham. Once settled, Peggy took on the role of a caregiver to Frank's mother, Marie and later to his aunt, Agnes. In the mid-1980s, Peggy took on the role of Library Assistant at Wellesley College. Peggy loved her new community, where she joined the Needham Garden Club, was an avid tennis player at the Needham Pool and Racquet Club, often hosted Bridge games with a variety of friends, and later added golf to her sports repertoire.
Upon retiring in the mid-1990s, Peggy and Frank sold their home in Needham, and purchased homes in Walpole, and Naples, Florida. True to form, Peggy dove into community involvement in Florida as a member of the Bereavement Club at Saint John the Evangelist Church and the Women’s Club at Pelican Marsh. She has numerous friends from both Needham and Naples.
