Lynne M. Workman

March 10, 1950 — January 31, 2020

Lynne M. (Nanez) Workman, age 69, passed away peacefully in her Rumford, Rhode Island home on Friday, January 31, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 10, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Ernest B. and Marie (Campisi) Nanez.  She was raised in Roslindale, Massachusetts and graduated from Fontbonne Academy with the Class of 1966.  Lynne continued her education, spending two years at the Perry Normal School in Boston, before earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1970.  Following her graduation, Lynne took a position as the principal of a small one room schoolhouse in Maine on the Canadian border.  After Lynne returned to Massachusetts, she took a position with the Easton Public School, teaching fifth grade.  While maintaining her full-time teaching position, Lynne also took classes at Bridgewater State College, earning her master’s degree in 1975.

Lynne married her beloved husband, Thomas N. Workman, on June 22, 1980.  Together they made their home in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where Lynne found a teaching position in a local Catholic School.  A few years later, she and Tom returned to Boston, settling in Hyde Park, and Lynne began her career with the Holy Name Parish School in one of their fifth-grade classrooms.  After welcoming her son, Andrew, in 1986, Lynne changed her role at Holy Name, introducing the first kindergarten to the school, which went on to develop into the Early Childhood Education Program.  In 1992, Lynne and Tom took the opportunity to leave the city, making their new home in the suburban town of Walpole, Massachusetts.  Lynne continued working at Holy Name and her efforts were certainly noticed, as she was named Principal in September of 2000.  She served the school well over the next seventeen years before her retirement in the spring of 2017.

When Lynne wasn’t hard at work caring for her school and her students, she enjoyed relaxing on the beaches of Cape Cod.  Back at home, she loved being surrounded by her family and playing with her dogs.

Beloved wife of Thomas N. Workman.
Loving mother of Andrew T. Workman and his wife, Evangeline Brennan Workman.
Cherished grandmother of Joshua, Zachary, and Caleb.
Also survived by members of her extended family.
