Lucy Gansfuss

Lucy (Zore) Gansfuss age 88 years died in the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Massachusetts on Monday, August 23, 2010. Born in New York City on August 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Marco and Theresa (Virla) Zore. She graduated from Newtown High School in Astoria, New York in 1940. She has been a resident of East Walpole, Massachusetts since 1995 moving from the Town of Greenburgh, New York.

She was a skilled cake decorator for a large bakery in New York City during WWII where she met her husband, John. After getting married, in addition to raising a family, she worked with him at the family business, Michael's Restaurant on Central Avenue.

She will be remembered for her easy smile, contagious laugh and generous nature. She took great pride in home and she and her husband enjoyed traveling with their dear friends, Charlie and Glenna Sulkala. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late John Gansfuss. Loving mother of John E. Gansfuss and his wife Kathleen (Varga) of Niskayuna, NY, Linda M. Sulkala and her husband Chuck of Walpole, and Richard M. Gansfuss and his wife Mary (Casey) of Cortlandt Manor, NY. Cherished grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 8. Sister of the late Marcello Zore and John Zore. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church 176 Washington Street East Walpole on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 9:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 5-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be private.
