Lucy M. (Mariani) Fay, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Benchmark at Forge Hill Assisted Living in Franklin, Massachusetts. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on December 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Alfonso and Berardina (Grossi) Mariani. She was raised in Walpole, where she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1946. Following her graduation, Lucy worked various clerical jobs in shops around Walpole.
Lucy married her beloved husband, John Edward Fay, on October 25, 1953, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. Together, they made their home in Walpole, where Lucy took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her six children. As her children grew up and started their own families, Lucy was delighted to be asked to help provide care and support for her grandchildren. In addition, Lucy took her tender caring skills into the home of several friends and neighbors in Walpole, providing childcare whenever she was needed.
Throughout her life, Lucy loved venturing out to area yard sales, looking for the perfect antique piece to add to her collection. She also enjoyed some quiet time back at home, using watercolors to paint beautiful landscapes, relaxing with a good book, or catching up on her favorite television shows. Most of all, she was devoted to her family, cherishing every moment she spent with those she loved, often entertaining them with her skills on the harmonica.
