MR. LOUIS AUGUSTINE "GIGI" SANTOMARCO AGE 83 YEARS DIED IN THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION HOSPITAL, WEST ROXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS on Sunday , October 8th, 2006. Born in Walpole on August 26th, 1923, the son of the late Luigi & Rose (Maffia) Santomarco. He graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1941. Entered into the United States Navy during World War II and served his country in both the Pacific and European Theatres.
A truck driver all of his working life, having worked for several trucking companies including HM Gould , Cody Express, and Radford Trucking. He was a member of the Teamster's Union Local #25. After he retired from trucking he worked for Bishay Motors in East Walpole as a driver, moving Mercedes inventory from one location to another.
Gigi was a member of the Board of Directors for the VFW Post 5188 Walpole, a life member of the Norwood Elks BPOE, life member of the Walpole Italian American Society, and a member of the American Legion Post 110 Medfield. Mr. Santomarco was featured in a Boston Globe Article that was published on August 4th, 1974 , describing the game of Morra.
Former husband of Helen (Balboni) Santomarco Loving father of Louis Santomarco of East Walpole, Patricia Devine of Yarmouth, Maryjo Santomarco of Providence, Michael Santomarco of Walpole, Holly Dosick of Attleboro. Cherished grandfather of 3 and great grandfather of 3 Brother of Elinor Mann of Foxboro and the late Maryjo Iagatta
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Rt 27) @ Diamond Street Walpole on Friday, October 13th, 2006 @ 10AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, October 12th, 2006 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment in Saint Francis Cemetery Walpole.
