Lorette M. Doherty (Duff), Walpole, formerly of Medford, Melrose and West Roxbury, after a long and heroic battle with cancer. Lorette was born in Boston on July 23, 1934 to Bertha and Alexander Duff. She graduated from Roxbury Memorial High school and pursued a career in electronics. It was while working in electronics she met the love of her life, her then "stock boy", who would later become her beloved husband, Daniel W. Doherty. Lorette and Daniel married on May 20, 1961 in Dorchester and Lorette immediately bonded with Dan's eight siblings, whom she loved as her own. They had one son, Sean and spent most of their married life in West Roxbury, later moving to Melrose and Medford. In 1980, she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer but battled to victory. She lost her husband Dan to cancer in 2001. Lorette leaves her son, Sean A. Doherty, Esq. and his wife Laura and the joys of her life as a devoted Gram - Daniel, Patrick, Casey and Isabella, all of Millis. She was a loving sister to the late Lorraine and Alexander Duff, as well as a devoted sister-in-law to Traudl Duff, Francis and Patricia Doherty, Colin Leggett, William Doherty, Robert Tivnan, Mary Ellen and Ronald White, Joan Doherty, and Joan Moran, as well as the late John Doherty, Catherine Stafford, Sheila Tivnan, Nancy Leggett, Margaret Doherty and Edward Stafford. Lorette was a special friend to Betty & Lester Boyd, Peggy Healey, Kay Williams, Muffy Celeste and Ron & Pat Blanchard. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. Lorette's main loves were her family, the ocean, reading, walking and her friends. Her life was simple and molded on love, honesty and living by the Golden Rule. This can be best exemplified by what she wrote to her grandchildren as she laid dying, "Study hard, laugh often, keep your honor."
