Lisa Anne Madden

March 20, 1952 — April 30, 2020

Lisa Anne (Godden) Madden, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at South County Hospital in Wakefield, Rhode Island on April 30, 2020.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on March 20th, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Frederick and Lina Marie (Makie) Godden.  She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1970.  While in high school, Lisa began her working career with the New England Telephone Company, working as an operator and customer service representative, serving the company until 1973.

Lisa married her beloved husband, William A. Madden, on August 25, 1972.  The young couple started their home together in Roslindale and then Walpole, where they raised their four children.  Lisa took a position with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jamaica Plain and began pursuing her Licensed Practical Nurse's Certificate in the Boston Public Schools Evening Program.  She earned her LPN in 1980 and was the Valedictorian of her class.  Her career as an LPN led Lisa to the Floating Hospital for Children and later to the Faulkner Hospital, where she worked in the acute care section.

As a woman who always cared for everyone, Lisa transitioned to the role of a homemaker in 1981, focusing on her own family while enjoying a part-time job at Heartland in Walpole.  As her children grew up, Lisa returned to her education, earning her Associate’s Degree from Massasoit Community College, graduating with Highest Honors in 1996.  Lisa took a position with her alma mater in 2000, working as a clerk in the Registrar's Office of the Brockton Campus. Lisa dedicated the next four years to assisting the students and faculty of Massasoit Community College.

Lisa loved people unconditionally and was always generous with her gifts and time, spending countless hours volunteering with various organizations.  She regularly volunteered in both the Boston and Walpole Public School Systems and taught religious education for thirteen years at Saint Timothy's Catholic Church in Norwood.  When she wasn't hard at work or volunteering, Lisa enjoyed working on word puzzles, playing games, and spending time with her family.
