Leroy W. Gebhardt

March 12, 1925 — July 22, 2011

Leroy W. Gebhardt age 86 years died in his Norwood, Massachusetts home on Friday, July 22, 2011. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 12, 1925; he was the son of the late Carl and Alberta (Whyte) Gebhardt. He graduated from Hyde Park High School with the class of 1943. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. He has been a resident of Norwood since 1973 moving there from East Boston. He had previously lived in Roslindale.

Mr. Gebhardt was a Boston Police Officer for 20 years. After his retirement he worked in the Security Office in the Norwood Hospital for over 25 years.

He was a member of the American Legion on Roslindale and the Boston Patrolman's Union.

Mr. Gebhardt enjoyed watching the Red Sox and folling golf, espcially Tiger Woods. He also enjoyed spending time at Cape Cod. He loved his two Chow Chow Dogs; Lady and Millie.

Beloved husband of Betty (Ostrom) Hall-Gebhardt. Loving father of Dianne Gebhardt Smith of Concord, CA, Stephen A.Gebhardt of Nashua, NH, and Shirley A. Murray of Palm Desert, CA. Step father of Robert Hall of Barnstable, Richard Hall of North Attleboro, Glenn Hall of Nashua, NH and Jeffrey Hall of Wrentham. Cherished Grandfather of Daniel Smith, Andrew Smith, Christie Smith, Kristofer Gebhardt, and Matthew Gebhardt. Brother of Joan Bingham of West Roxbury, the late Carleton Gebhardt, the late Rita McGurk, the late Alberta Eichinger, and the late Marilyn MacDonald.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment Saint Francis Cemetery.
