Lawrence Gerald Sullivan, age 91, passed into eternal life on Thursday, October 31, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on November 28, 1932, he was the son of Walter and Grace B. (Hazelton) Sullivan.

Larry was raised in Medford, Massachusetts where he attended the local public schools. Upon graduation, Larry proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his time in the service, Larry received many beautiful, detailed letters from his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine "Gerry" Boudreau.

After serving his country for four years, including a year and a half overseas, Larry returned home and married the love of his life. Larry and Gerry were wed on October 1, 1955, in Saint Theresa's Church in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. The couple made their married home in Brockton, where they began to raise a family, later moving to Dedham, Massachusetts in 1966.

During this time, Larry began his multi-decade career with Boston Edison. At the time of his well-deserved retirement, he had risen to the position of Southern Division Head, where he was in charge of multiple electrical stations.

A jack of all trades, Larry loved working on projects and tinkering. He was a determined man, who sought out solutions and was willing to take the time to research and teach himself skills necessary to get the job done. He built the addition to his family's home, rebuilt car engines with his sons, and handcrafted heirloom cradles for his grandchildren, as just a few examples. If Larry couldn't fix a problem, chances are it couldn't be done.

Larry's family was the most important part of his life. He worked hard to provide for his family, ensuring that they never went without. Larry treasured the times he spent with them, often teaching them valuable lessons, such as how to maintain their homes, change a flat tire, or just simply be a good listener. In similar fashion, he shared many important lessons with his grandchildren, and later with his great grandchildren, sprinkling bits of wisdom in conversation while building Lego sets or puzzles. Larry, along with Gerry, were wonderful role models for everyone in their life, living authentically and showing unconditional love and compassion for those around them.

In his free time, Larry also enjoyed tending to his flower garden and would happily share gardening tips, always ready to suggest planting a Rose of Sharon. He and Gerry loved to travel, initially taking their young family on camping trips to various National Parks and later in life visiting Alaska, Bermuda, and the Mediterranean. At home, Larry enjoyed relaxing with an action-adventure movie or an episode of This Old House. He was happiest when he was with his family.
